„You can\u2019t have your cake and eat it too.“ Is that so? Since we already distanced ourselves from any kind of science in yesterday\u2019s post, we won\u2019t be entering into discourses about baked goods today either\u2014especially not the kind that might lead to conflict situations. Instead: music! music! music! A four\u2011pack. With, and without cake. For instant pleasure, but also for long\u2011lasting joy. JEFF LOGAN<\/strong> serves his \u201cCake\u201d as a \u201c350 Degrees Sonic Version\u201d<\/em>, whipping up a fluffy soul\u2011jazz groove and, with the experience of a well\u2011trained sound\u2011confectioner, adding exactly the right ingredients. And yes\u2014please, with whipped cream. The guitar already played a leading role in the baking process, and now it takes center stage again with TOM BAILEY<\/strong> and his \u201cCount on Me.\u201d<\/em> Soul, R&B, with an unstirred pop note. It clicks and clacks, the hooks latch on in all the right places, and Tom delivers\u2014reliably, as always. A man named GIVEON<\/strong> is, by all accounts, now a major figure in the everyday, radio\u2011friendly R&B business. We somehow missed that until today. But with \u201cJezebel,\u201d<\/em> he has our full attention: joy\u2011inducing dance groove, charming melodic turns, and a bass line that borrows a few ideas from Marcus Miller\u2019s contributions to the great Luther tracks. ADRIA KAIN<\/strong> wants to get to where Giveon already is. She\u2019s considered an up\u2011and\u2011coming, highly capable \u201cR&B singer\u2011songwriter\u201d and has just released her second album, \u201cThis Feels Like Home.\u201d<\/em> And while seven of the eight tracks quietly wander off somewhere, \u201cDriving Miss Daisy\u201d<\/em> stays right at the center of our attention. That\u2019s how it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nachdem wir uns schon im gestrigen Beitrag von jedweder Wissenschaft distanziert haben, werden wir auch heute nicht in irgendwelche Diskurse \u00fcber Backwaren, aus denen wom\u00f6glich Konfliktsituationen erwachsen k\u00f6nnen, einsteigen, Stattdessen: Musik! Musik! Musik!. Im 4-er-Pack. Mit, und ohne Kuchen. F\u00fcr den sofortigen Genuss, aber eben auch f\u00fcr langanhaltende Freuden. Der JEFF LOGAN<\/strong> serviert seinen „Cake“ als „350 Degrees Sonic Version“, in dem er einen flockigen Soul-Jazz-Groove locker aufschl\u00e4gt, und mit der Erfahrung eines gut geschulten Sound-Konditors die richtigen Zutaten hinzuf\u00fcgt. Aber bitte mit Sahne! – Die Gitarre erf\u00fcllte schon eine f\u00fchrende Partie beim Backen, und ist nun auch bei TOM BAILEY<\/strong> und seinem „Count on Me“ zentral aktiv. Soul, R&B, mit unteger\u00fchrter Pop-Note. Es klickt und klackt, die Hooks verhaken sich an geeigneter Stelle, der Tom liefert stets zuverl\u00e4ssig. – Ein Mann namens GIVEON<\/strong> soll dem Vernehmen nach inzwischen eine gro\u00dfe Nummer im allt\u00e4glichen, radio-kompatiblen RnB-Business sein. Haben wir bis heute verpasst. Mittels „Jezebel“ hat er aber unsere gesamte Aufmerksamkeit – freudespendende Dance-Groove, nette Notenfolgen, und ein Bass, der den Miller’schen Beitr\u00e4ge f\u00fcr die guten Luther-Songs ein paar Anleihen entnommen hat. – ADRIA KAIN<\/strong> m\u00f6chte erst dorthin, wo der Giveon schon ist. Sie gilt als aufstrebend-bef\u00e4higte „E&B Singer-Songwriter\/in“, und hat soeben ein zweites Album namens „This Feels Like Home“ aufgelegt. Und w\u00e4hrend sich 7 der 8 Musiken irgendwohin davonschleichen bleibt „Driving Miss Daisy“ direkt im Zentrum unseres Geschehens. So geht’s!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
