Beautiful music. Times are not great, but today’s quartet is all the better for it. Which is why we’ll spare ourselves (and above all you) the many words and let the magic of SEU JORGE’s new songs unfold — his first album in more than 16 years, titled “The Other Side.”Recorded between 2009 and 2018, yet otherworldly timeless in its musical interplay of bossa and jazz, of grand orchestration and quiet nuances. Every track a blessing in itself. – MOYSES DOS SANTOS moves across similar terrain. “Saudade”drifts on strings, built on a rather brisk beat and equally lively melodic curves. With the occasional sideways glance. Artur Verocai, Theo Croker and Lynda Dawn provide the finishing touch of warmth. – QENDRESA may call it “Rain In July,”but at least this rain falls from warm, floating electro‑clouds. More pleasant than expected. – And staying in London, DAYO BELLO’s “Stand Still”might actually make the city pause for a few moments. Clicking beat, floating textures, jazz behind the curtain.
