Anything to report? Beautiful music in difficult times. Worrying, at the very least. Retreating to one’s own little patch of home as the royal road. But with a decent local supplier within walking distance. And then a few overarching songs that focus solely on melody and rhythm, refusing to be bothered by limitations. Andy Platts shows this in exemplary fashion, letting his MAMAS GUN circle outward. Pop and soul, perfectly wrapped in carefully arranged soundscapes. “Dig!” is the new album. Here and now, everywhere and tomorrow. An ideal companion. — The same goes for “Outsider”, the album by TIWAYO, who had his retro‑soul songs dressed up by Adrian Quesada. A few Latin touches, a bit of rock, soul in voice and presence, and an “Unchained Lovers” duet with KENDRA MORRIS to stay on everyone’s lips. — And since its release in 2025, the “Whimsy” album by DESTIN CONRAD has naturally been right there as well. The R&B man with jazz feelings. And those need to be let out from time to time. A good thing! Even if the jazz appears mostly as a welcome marginal note, it’s the combination Conrad devised—moderate alternative R&B sounds, always in a softly padded ambience, with seemingly random jazzy elements wandering through—that makes it work. And the newly available Deluxe Edition now adds seven new songs. — SLOWE makes clever songs. Mostly slow… of course! The new album is about to launch; as its third preview, we now get “Temporary (You’ll Be Gone)”, whose rhythmic layer even features some lively percussion to lighten the mood. A click, a clack, a handful of jazz aspects (you just can’t do without!), guitar and electric piano slipping by to accompany the vocals/bass scenery for a moment. Currently right at the front of the pack.

Dazu dann noch ein paar übergeordnete Songs, die sich einzig auf Melodie und Rhythmus besinnen, ohne sich von Begrenzungen beirren zu lassen. Und die jetzt verfügbare Deluxe Edition bietet nun gleich 7 neue Songs dazu. – SLOWE macht schlaue Songs. Vorwiegend slow…natürlich! Das neue Album steht alsbald am Start, als dritten Vorboten daraus gibt’s jetzt „Temporary (You’ll Be Gone)“, auf dessen Rhythmus-Ebene gar ein paar flotte Percussions für aufgelockerte Stimmung sorgen. Ein Klick, ein Klack, eine Handvoll Aspekte vom Jazz (ohne geht’s eben nicht!), Gitarre und E-Piano schnurpsen mal vorbei, um die Vocals/Bass-Szenerie temporär zu begleiten. Zurzeit ganz vorn dabei.
