And as we know, that bottom lies in the depths of the finer songs — of which we’ll present one or two this Friday as well. -There’s no doubt: TERISA GRIFFIN knows precisely how powerful her music can be. Every note a gold piece, every syllable a revelation. Any doubts? Then first listen to “I Just Want To Know”, absorb every nuance of word and tone, and then feel free to check back in. – OLIVIA B. MOORE likewise understands the impact of carefully chosen tones — tones that, when arranged in the right sequence, can unfold their full magic. “Go Away, Bro” is a wonderful example of how a few sharply placed notes can tell truly big stories when the right voice takes the lead. – “There She Glows Again” — SOPHIA BROMBERG. She shifted from “Green Light” to “Pink Lemonade”, and now stands there shining in full radiance. A typical Bromberg track: lightly swinging with fresh soul and pop, effective jazz infusions, beautifully sculpted melodic curves, and a confident delivery. – As is well known, Ivana and Filip Hunter — THREETWENTY — are among our R&B favorites. New soul under influence. Songcraft with those particular touches in production and arrangement. Melodic lines that always please, yet make their point far from any platitudes. Most certainly “Separate From The Noise” — am all-around success.

Ohne Frage, die TERISA GRIFFIN, weiß ganz genau um die Wirkung ihrer Musiken. Jede Note ein Goldstück, jede Silbe eine Offenbarung. Irgendwelche Zweifel? Dann bitte erstmal „I Just Want To Know“ abhören, alle Nuancen von Wort und Ton abhorchen, und dann bitte nochmal melden. – Auch die OLIVIA B. MOORE weiß um die Wirkung von ganz sorgfältig ausgewählten Tönen, die immer dann, wenn sie in passender Folge arrangiert sind ihren ganzen Zauber entfallten können. „Go Away, Bro“ ist ein wunderbares Beispiel, wie ein paar äußerst pointiert eingesetzte ganz großer Geschichten erzählen, wenn eine adäquate Stimme die Regie übernimmt. – „There She Glows Again“, die SOPHIA BROMBERG. Sie schaltete vom „Green Light“ zur „Pink Lemonade“, um nun endlich vollends strahlend dazustehen. Ein typischer Bromberg-Song – leicht schwingend mit neuem Soul und Pop, dazu wirksamem Jazz-Input, bestens ausgestalteten Melodie-Kurven und souveränem Vortrag. – Bekanntermaßen zählen Ivana und Filip Hunter als THREETWENTY zu unseren RnB-Favoriten. Neuer Soul unter Einfluss. Liedgut mit den gewissen Besonderheiten in Prpduktion und Arrangement. Melodielinien, die stets Wohlgefallen finden, und dennoch fernab irgendwelcher Plattitüden ihre Punkte machen. Ganz sicher „Separate From The Noise“ rundum.

And for a truly special sound, we recommend ascending “Noblehill” — on tour together with CORTO.ALTO and JACOB ALON. A wondrous experience!

No wishes left unfulfilled, no eyes left dry, no dancefloor left untouched.Dave Lee’s SUNBURST BAND takes inspiration from Lenny White for “Reach For My Love,” while Paris Toon & Saeeda Wright have handed over their excellent “This Is Love” to Emmaculate and Opolopo for full dance‑floor optimization. No wonder MOTHERS FAVORITE CHILD fill the room with ease. – INTA‑CITY is the name Daniel Maunick gives his collaboration with the Zaimie Duo, who together revive Brit‑Jazz‑Funk with cheerful flair.Kon’s mix lets the eight minutes of “Runnin’ Outta Time” fly by in no time. – Good thing we’ve still got a fabulous piece of soul on the turntable to close out the night. BRIAN TEMBA knows his way around House & Co., but he convinces us far more with a splendidly swaying “My Sunshine.” That’s when the sun comes up — so make sure to take note.

Die SUNBURST BAND des Dave Lee lässt sich für „Reach For My Love“ von Lenny White inspirieren, während Paris Toon und Saeeda Wright ihr vortreffliches „This Is Love“ bei Emmaculate und Opolopo zur Dance-Optimierung abgeliefert haben. Kein Wunder also,, dass MOTHERS FAVORITE CHILD ganz locker die Fläche füllen. – INTA-CITY nennt Damiel Maunick seine Zusammenarbeit mit dem Zaimie Duo, die gemeinsam den Brit-Jazz-Funk fröhliche Urständ feiern lassen. Der Mix von Kon lässt die 8-Minuten von „Runnin‘ Outta Time“ wie im Flug vorbeiziehen. – Gut, dass wir zum Ausklang der Nacht noch ein famoses Stück vom Soul auf dem Teller haben. Der BRIAN TEMBA kennt sich aus mit House & Co, kann uns aber mittels eines prächtig schwofenden „My Sunshine“ weitaus besser überzeugen. Da geht die Sonne auf, also unbedingt notieren!
Still caught in our usual kind of writer’s block. We’re listening to the most impactful songs of the weekend — practically on extended repeat. We delight in the soul‑woven, fine‑jazz‑threaded tapestry of MYLES SANKO, who once again raises the question with “I See My Light”: why isn’t his meticulously crafted songwriting a central pillar of every playlist? – You’ll also find JORDAN RAKEI there, who has strung a few different sonic chords for his album “A Safe Place To Be Wild”, set for release in September. With “Promise”, he delivers another singer‑songwriter piece operating at an elevated pop level. Absolutely radio‑friendly. – LIV EAST, brand‑new at the SonicSoul starting line. “Projections” casts another spotlight on her soon‑to‑arrive debut “FunkSoulSex”, whose soundscape ultimately takes a more subtle approach. New soul, deep‑rumbling, with a touch of electronics and a still‑to‑be‑defined magnetic pull. Fits us well. – Curtain up for a new label, led by Simon Manni, a man with extensive experience in the soul/jazz biz. On top of that, he has exquisite taste — so we’re already looking forward to the upcoming output from his Rebirth imprint. First up is SHAWN RIVERA, who recently impressed with a refined RnB/Soul record. He took Mario Biondi’s classic “This Is What You Are” to heart and, together with Rebirth’s house band Dolce Groove, turns it into a lightly grooving slice of soul‑jazz — complete with sing‑along charm, a tasteful sax solo, and a free‑floating outro. Exactly as it should be.

Wir erfreuen uns an den mit feinen Jazz-Fäden durchzogenen Soul-Gespinst des MYLES SANKO, der mittels „I See My Light“ ein weiteres Mal die Frage aufwirft, warum sein ausgetüfteltes Liedgut nicht ein zentraler Punkt jeder Playlist ist. – Dort finden wir zum Beispiel auch den JORDAN RAKEI, der für sein im September zur Veröffentlichung anstehendes Album „A Safe Place To Be Wild“ ein paar andere Sound-Saiten aufgezogen hat. Mit „Promise“ gibt er einen weiteren Singer-Songwriter-Beleg auf gehobenem Pop-Niveau ab. Absoulut radio-kompatibel. – LIV EAST, ganz neu an der SonicSoul Startlinie. „Projections“ wirft ein weiteres Schlaglicht auf ihr alsbald erhältliches Debut „FunkSoulSex“, dessen Klangbild dann doch subtiler zur Sache geht. Passt gut zu uns – Vorhang auf für ein neues Label, hinter dem mit Simon Manni ein Mann mit umfassender Erfahrung im Soul/Jazz Biz steht. Noch dazu verfügt er über einen erlesenen Geschmack, so dass wir uns schon jetzt über den bevorstehenden Output der Firma Rebirth freuen. Den Anfang macht der SHAWN RIVERA, der erst kürzlich mittels einer ganz feinen RnB/Soul Platte reüssieren konnte, nahm sich den Mario Biondi Klassiker „This Is What You Are“ zu Herzen, und macht daraus (gemeinsam mit der Rebirth Haus-Band Dolce Groove) ein locker groovendes Stück vom Soul-Jazz, inklusive Mitsing-Funktion, gediegenem Solo vom Saxofon und freiem Floating zum Ausklang. Ganz richtig so!
Hits… and those that ought to be. But always lively. And distinctive. The Brit Simon Green, also known as BONOBO, has so far never really appeared in our orbit. Yet the new single recorded together with JOY CROOKES, “Always On Your Side”, has an almost shameless level of hit quality. Wonderfully produced and arranged, executed with superior nonchalance. Perfect. – The same naturally applies to MESHELL NDEGEOCELLO, who—once again together with David Gamson, Abe Rounds, and Josh Johnson—has recognized the true value of the “Don’t You Want Me” smash hit by the lamentable Human League. Superb across all departments. – In the absence of suitable new music, KOKOROKO have reworked a few of their own highlights from “Tuff Times Never Last.” The decisive extra kick was added by several musicians from the newer Brazilian generation—sounds so fresh you’d think there was no original version at all. Remarkable. – ROY INC. & DARREN MORRIS? If you haven’t yet, you should definitely make a note of this duo. Soul and jazz with edges, corners, and a certain roller‑coaster extra. “You’ll Never See My Tears”—strength in word and tone.

Perfekt! – Gilt selbstredend auch für die MESHELL NDEGEOGELLO, die wieder gemeinsam mit David Gamson, Abe Rounds und Josh Johnson, den eigentlichen Wert des „Don’t You Want Me“ Gassenhauers der unsäglichen Human League erkannt hat. Superb in allen Abteilungen! – In Ermangelung angemessener Musiken haben KOKOROKO ein paar ihrer eigenen Hi-Lites aus dem „Tuff Times Never Last“ überarbeitet. Den entscheidenden Extra-Kick fügten einige Musiker der neueren Brasil-Generation hinzu – klingt so frisch, als ob’s keine Vorlage dazu geben würde. Bemerkenswert! – ROY INC. & DARREN MORRIS? Wenn noch nicht geschehen, dann solltet ihr euch dieses Duo schon mal hinter die Ohren schreiben. Soul und Jazz, mit Ecken und Kanten, und dem gewissen Achterbahn-Extra. „You’ll Never Seen My Tears“ – Stärke in Wort und Ton!

Deep‑rumbling 80s electro‑boogie‑funk with a touch of Brazilian charm. “Toc Toc,” goes ED MOTTA, and everyone joins in. – LALAH HATHAWAY is also setting off toward better times. She has named her upcoming album “Made in Chicago,” and with the richly expanded “47th Street” she evokes the city’s soul history — a history closely intertwined with the Hathaway family, of course. – Fancy some top‑tier soul‑jazz? JAZZHOLE are always the first choice. A dragging beat, interwoven with the spoken‑word flow of Ckrizzy2gone. A rock in the surf. – A late calling for DANIELLE PONDER. In 2021 she ended her already well‑advanced career as an attorney and chose soul and rhythm & blues instead. Her performance is powerful and emphatic, her songs full of the hooks and edges that matter. No wonder her “Sun & Moon” is currently spinning a few extra rounds with us.

Tief grummelnder 80s-Electro-Boogie-Funk mit dem Charme Brasiliens. „Toc Toc“ macht der ED MOTTA, und alle machen mit. – Auch LALAH HATHAWAY macht sich auf den Weg in die besseren Zeiten. „Made In Chicago“ hat sie ihr bevorstehendes Album genannt, aus dem sie mittels des umfassend ausgebauten „47th. Street“ an die Soul-Historie der Stadt erinnert, die natürlich auch eng mit der Familie Hathaway verbunden ist. – Soul-Jazz der Oberklasse gefällig? JAZZHOLE sind diesbezüglich stets erste Wahl. Schleppender Beat, darin verwobener Sprechgesang des Ckrizzy2gone. Ein Fels in der Brandung. – Eine Spätberufene, diese DANIELLE PONDER. 20121 beendete ihr bereits weit fortgeschrittene Anwalts-Karriere, und entschied sich für Soul und Rhythm&Blues. Kraftvoll und nachdrücklich ihr Auftritt, dazu Songs mit den wichtigen Haken und Ösen. Kein Wunder also, dass ihr „Sun & Moon“ gerade ein paar Extrarunden bei uns dreht.
