Now all we’re left with is the “Dream Of Summer” to stretch out on the mat. MISHA and his friends lay down a slow‑mover rounded by the evening sun, a daydream floating somewhere above everything. On such occasions, you often meet exactly the right “Someone”. RUBY WOOD and DEVIN TRACY sway toward their destination in the finest Nu‑Alt‑E‑Soul fashion. Naturally, DYVN doesn’t want to stand idly by, and closes today’s beat circle in equally groovy style. “In My Face” comes across shy, reverberant, wrapping the rhythm in shimmering voices. And just like that, it’s over again…

In moments like these, a solid “Shelter”—a rock in the surf—matters More Than Ever. All clear? As usual, we can’t offer much support to the generally disoriented this week either. Unless, of course, it’s about the right music for the weekend. More crucial than ever. And honestly, everything has already been said. Still, we should add that NAIMA ADAMS is offering us her debut EP, and we’re more than happy to place her “Where Do We Go…” in the shop window. Singer‑songwriter soul with alternative touches of jazz, folk, and more. What matters most: she has forged some truly fine songs. We’re walking with you, Naima. A similar formula shapes the music of SOL PARADISE. Less folk, some kind of rock (?!), and related sound textures. Naturally, the hookline has to land—no problem for “Shelter”. From Norway come DELIVERIE, reportedly an “Alternative RnB/Soul Band.” Lacking a better label, we’ll leave it at that and instead recommend a self‑test with “Never Satisfied.” Fits us—and the sound scheme so far—perfectly. Black Thought, Rahsaan Patterson, Josh Milan, Moodymann, Omar, J. Since we already distanced ourselves from any kind of science in yesterday’s post, we won’t be entering into discourses about baked goods today either—especially not the kind that might lead to conflict situations. Instead: music! music! music! A four‑pack. With, and without cake. For instant pleasure, but also for long‑lasting joy. JEFF LOGAN serves his “Cake” as a “350 Degrees Sonic Version”, whipping up a fluffy soul‑jazz groove and, with the experience of a well‑trained sound‑confectioner, adding exactly the right ingredients. And yes—please, with whipped cream. The guitar already played a leading role in the baking process, and now it takes center stage again with TOM BAILEY and his “Count on Me.” Soul, R&B, with an unstirred pop note. It clicks and clacks, the hooks latch on in all the right places, and Tom delivers—reliably, as always. A man named GIVEON is, by all accounts, now a major figure in the everyday, radio‑friendly R&B business. We somehow missed that until today. But with “Jezebel,” he has our full attention: joy‑inducing dance groove, charming melodic turns, and a bass line that borrows a few ideas from Marcus Miller’s contributions to the great Luther tracks. ADRIA KAIN wants to get to where Giveon already is. She’s considered an up‑and‑coming, highly capable “R&B singer‑songwriter” and has just released her second album, “This Feels Like Home.” And while seven of the eight tracks quietly wander off somewhere, “Driving Miss Daisy” stays right at the center of our attention. That’s how it’s done.

Der JEFF LOGAN serviert seinen „Cake“ als „350 Degrees Sonic Version“, in dem er einen flockigen Soul-Jazz-Groove locker aufschlägt, und mit der Erfahrung eines gut geschulten Sound-Konditors die richtigen Zutaten hinzufügt. Aber bitte mit Sahne! – Die Gitarre erfüllte schon eine führende Partie beim Backen, und ist nun auch bei TOM BAILEY und seinem „Count on Me“ zentral aktiv. Soul, R&B, mit untegerührter Pop-Note. Es klickt und klackt, die Hooks verhaken sich an geeigneter Stelle, der Tom liefert stets zuverlässig. – Ein Mann namens GIVEON soll dem Vernehmen nach inzwischen eine große Nummer im alltäglichen, radio-kompatiblen RnB-Business sein. Haben wir bis heute verpasst. Mittels „Jezebel“ hat er aber unsere gesamte Aufmerksamkeit – freudespendende Dance-Groove, nette Notenfolgen, und ein Bass, der den Miller’schen Beiträge für die guten Luther-Songs ein paar Anleihen entnommen hat. – ADRIA KAIN möchte erst dorthin, wo der Giveon schon ist. Sie gilt als aufstrebend-befähigte „E&B Singer-Songwriter/in“, und hat soeben ein zweites Album namens „This Feels Like Home“ aufgelegt. Und während sich 7 der 8 Musiken irgendwohin davonschleichen bleibt „Driving Miss Daisy“ direkt im Zentrum unseres Geschehens. So geht’s!
